    TEST YOUR POWER INSERT BEFORE REPLACING IT!
    If your power insert LED does not come on, you may have a short on your line.  The power insert has a surge/short detection so if you connect a cable to the power insert that has a short, or if there is a splitter on that line that is not a LAVA splitter, the light on the power insert will flash once, or turn off.  You can disconnect the power insert from everything completely, then only connect it to power, and the light should come back on if there is nothing connected to it.
